The Christian life goes beyond knowing our sins are forgiven and heaven awaits (Ephesians 1:3). It’s about discovering through revelation: (1) who we are in Christ, (2) what we have in Him, and (3) what He can do through us as we abide (John 15:5). Revelations from the Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:12), Scripture (2 Peter 1:21), and life’s circumstances help us grow and minister to others, refreshing them (Philemon 6-7). Paul’s prayer for Philemon shows two movements: Know to Share—knowing our identity in Christ (Romans 6:6-7, new creation, free from sin’s power) to share with believers, and Share to Know—sharing truths to deepen understanding, freeing Christians from laboring to earn what they already are in Christ (John 8:32). Like Philemon, who comforted believers through sharing, we’re called to counter false teachings (e.g., salvation by infant baptism) with biblical truth, bringing joy and rest (Philemon 7).
