One-to-One Spiritual Leadership Training: Diner Discipleship . 12.21.2024

The meeting of Grace Christian Church.

Purpose and Vision The “Diner Discipleship” initiative aims to equip spiritual leaders to meet one-to-one with individuals as directed by the Holy Spirit. These meetings foster personal, Spirit-led interactions that help address spiritual needs and advance the Church’s mission. The six lessons are tailored for various individuals, from the unsaved to believers facing specific challenges.

Core Principles

1. Spirit-Led Meetings: Allow the Holy Spirit to guide both the leader and the individual seeking spiritual growth.

2. Personal Interaction: One-to-one settings offer intimate, impactful opportunities for teaching and revelation.

3. Availability over Ability: God prioritizes a willing heart over credentials or expertise.

Biblical Model

The story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:29-38) illustrates the Spirit-led nature of these meetings, showing how listening and obeying the Spirit results in revelation and spiritual fruit.

Pastor’s Testimony

The idea of “Diner Discipleship” originated from the pastor’s personal experience. Early in his faith, he met regularly with a church elder at a diner for Bible study. These Spirit-led conversations deeply impacted his spiritual journey, illustrating the power of personal, Spirit-directed interactions.

Practical Steps for Leaders

1. Pray daily for guidance on whom to meet.

2. Let the Spirit lead the process, from initiating contact to structuring conversations.

3. Engage individuals of the same sex for meetings, ensuring appropriate boundaries.

4. Trust the Spirit to reveal what to share and focus on fostering genuine spiritual growth.

Homework

• Begin praying for the unsaved person(s) God wants you to meet.

• Be attentive to the Spirit’s guidance, and note down any names revealed.

• Prepare for the next lesson on leading the unsaved to Christ in one or two meetings.

Reflection Questions for Leaders

1. Do you feel anxiety or fear about one-to-one meetings? Why?

2. Has the Spirit revealed someone for you to meet? What is the reason?

3. How has the Spirit recently revealed truths to you that you could share with others?

4. What is the Spirit currently saying to you about engaging in one-to-one ministry?

Through Spirit-led availability and personal connection, “Diner Discipleship” seeks to bring individuals closer to God and deepen their spiritual understanding.
