The meeting of Grace Christian Church. We meet in person and stream services every Sunday at 10:30 AM EST in Manalapan, New Jersey.
"Finished Work of the Cross" (Romans 8, njgrace.org) Series Context: Sixth message in the "Finished Work of the Cross" series, focusing on spiritual truths from Christ’s death and resurrection (John 19:30, John 1:29). Paul’s Struggle (Romans 7): Paul describes his battle with sin, trying law-keeping, willpower, and self-effort, all failing, leading to misery (Romans 7:24). Miserable Christians: Many believers become miserable, relying on law or self-effort, leading to despair, masking struggles, or leaving the Church.
Solution: Jesus Christ rescues believers from misery through the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8). Three Key Truths (Romans 8:1-11):
Spirit of Christ Dwells in You: Post-cross, believers are indwelt by the Spirit of Christ, unlike Old Covenant where the Spirit came upon people (Numbers 11:16-17). This is the source for victorious living, not law or self (Romans 8:9-11).
Spirit of Christ Overcomes for You: No condemnation for believers; the Spirit’s law of life frees from sin and death, unlike self-effort which fails (Romans 8:1-2).
Spirit of Christ Is Your Life and Peace: Setting minds on the Spirit (not flesh) brings life and peace; fleshly living leads to misery and hostility toward God (Romans 8:5-8, Hebrews 11:6). Key Takeaway: Believers overcome sin and find peace by relying on the indwelling Spirit of Christ, not law, self, or willpower.
Invitation: Share these truths with struggling Christians; explore more at njgrace.org.
