Lesson Two - What Did God Accomplish To Give You A New Identity?

This lesson explores God's original design for humanity, the effects of the Fall, and how the cross restores believers through crucifixion of the old self and exchange for a new identity. Structured over five days, it uses diagrams to illustrate body, soul, and human spirit; pre- and post-Fall conditions; inheritance from Adam; and the sin/life sides of the cross. Key emphasis: God forgives sins (sin side) and inserts fullness, life, power; crucifies/exchanges old identity for new; and unites Himself eternally with believers (life side). Aims to free from old false beliefs and enable intimacy with God.

Key Points:

  1. Introduction: Focuses on God's design, pre-Fall condition, sin/life sides of cross, crucifixion/exchange of old identity for new.
  2. Day One - God's Design: Man as tri-part being - body (physical/senses), soul (mind/will/emotions; relates to world/people), human spirit (identity; worships/relates to God, learns/receives revelation). Pray for revelation.
  3. Pre-Fall Condition: Body eternal; soul perfect (truth-believing mind, harmonious emotions, dependent will); spirit alive to God/dead to sin.
  4. Day Two - Post-Fall Changes: Sin causes spiritual death (dead to God/alive to sin), separation from God/life/power. Body decays; soul damaged (lies, emotions, independence). Inherited at birth via Adam (Romans 5:12).
  5. Day Three - Two Sides of Cross: Sin side: Christ died for forgiveness (Eph 1:7, Rom 5:8). Life side: God inserts fullness (Col 2:9-10), life (Col 3:4, Jn 14:6), power (2 Cor 4:7) for transformation.
  6. Day Four - Crucifixion of Old Self/Identity: Old identity (false beliefs in dead spirit) crucified (Rom 6:6, Gal 2:20). No need to live from it; eternal perspective makes it present reality.
  7. Day Five - Exchange and Union: Old replaced with new spirit/identity (2 Cor 5:17, Ez 36:26-27). God in inseparable union (1 Cor 6:17, Jn 14:20) - eternal security. Restores pre-Fall condition; persuades of God's love.
  8. Summary/Questions: Encourages meditation on truths; discussion on impacts, diagrams, crucifixion's role, union's significance.
