“Present Yourself to God”
(njgrace.org message – core biblical teaching on the daily choice after salvation)Main ThemeAfter we are saved by believing the gospel (regaining the spiritual life lost in Eden), God calls every believer to a daily, ongoing choice: present yourself to God (Romans 6:13, 19; 12:1–2; 2 Timothy 2:15). This is not about earning salvation — it is about allowing God to conform us into the image of Christ from the inside out (Romans 8:29). It is the difference between spiritual stagnation (wilderness living) and spiritual fruitfulness. The Garden of Eden picture: Two trees = two choices

- Tree of Life = Christ (dependence on God)
- Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil = self / Satan / world system (self-effort)
Adam and Eve chose wrong once — we now choose daily. The Three Spiritual Benefits of Presenting Yourself to God
- Growing (Sanctification / Maturity)
- Present your members to God as “those alive from the dead” and “instruments of righteousness” (Romans 6:13, 19).
- Stop presenting to sin / lawlessness / self-effort.
- Result: God produces real sanctification (growth) by grace, not by trying to imitate Jesus from the outside (WWJD mentality).
- Law works outside-in; Grace works inside-out.
- We are saved by grace through faith — we are also sanctified by the same grace through faith.
- Knowing (Discovering God’s Will)
- Present your body as a “living and holy sacrifice” — this is your spiritual act of worship (Romans 12:1).
- God renews your mind and transforms you so you can “prove what the will of God is — that which is good, acceptable, and perfect” (Romans 12:2).
- God’s will is not a mystery to be guessed at — it is revealed by the Spirit when we present ourselves and listen.
- No more “trial-and-error” searching like a needle in a haystack.
- Working (Effective Ministry / Service)
- “Study and be eager… present yourself to God approved… a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).
- We do not work for God (as an employee); we work from God as our source (partakers of the divine nature).
- God works through us when we first present ourselves.
- This also equips us to rightly divide truth and refute error.
Key Takeaways
- Salvation (new birth) is a one-time choice.
- Sanctification (growth) is a daily choice of surrender: “God, run my life… I present myself to You.”
- Presenting yourself to God unleashes the Spirit’s work in you and through you.
- Neglecting this choice = spiritual stagnation.
- Embracing this choice = growing, knowing, and working in the power of Christ as Life.
Discussion Prompt from the message
Have you ever presented yourself to God in this way? Are you presenting yourself to Him now? What has been the result in your life?Bottom line
It is all about choices. Choose Christ for salvation — then keep choosing to present yourself to Him daily so He can live His life through you. That is New Covenant grace in action. (Full message available at njgrace.org)
